Things to do in Bohol Philippines

Chocolate hills and tarsiers made me wanted to visit Bohol as well as the thrill and adventures along Panglao beach. I’ve been everywhere in the Philippines, and Bohol and Cebu are the two popular cities that triggered my wanderlust and itchy feet this time.

So what are the most fun and thrilling things I did in Bohol for 3 days?.

1. Settled in a cool, quiet and hippy Chill-out Guesthouse which has been famous to most tourists. They have a nice and clean accommodation, friendliest staffs, and very relaxing rooms and balconies. This place will easily make you feel at home with its native ambiance and peaceful surroundings. One must be booked in advance to be accommodated, as they only have 9 rooms and always been fully booked.

2. Roaming around Alona (Panglao) beach resort is a must. Seeing a lot of tourists from others parts of the world, bars, pubs, sing along bars, restaurants, and other Korean supermarkets made me feel like I was in Boracay. Walking on the beach gave me an ambiance of Boracay, however, it’s the ambiance I felt 7 years ago when I first visited that place. Alona beach offers a lot of hangout places and different restaurants that you can choose from. They have different bands who played good music on different genres.

3. Seafood and beers with a good band playing at Trudi’s place is a must place. You’ll surely love the simple beach front restaurant with affordable meal prices and cheap beers. Grilled fish shouldn’t be missed here.

4. Catch a sleeping tarsier “a nocturnal mammal” while enjoying the short trail at the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary. You’ll surely love these tiny tarsiers with big eyes. Tourists are advised not take photos with flashes and to stay quiet to not disturb these animals.

5. Visit the famous chocolate hills and have your Instagram worthy pictures. Taking the 220 stair steps is worth all the sweat and effort, as it’s the only and best way to watch the beautiful chocolate hills.

6. Stopped by on the man-made forest. One must be careful taking selfies and photos as there are plenty of vans and other vehicles passing by

7. Enjoy Loboc river while feasting on a buffet lunch with seafood and other cuisines. The tour takes an hour and you’ll definitely enjoy the food and the river tour. Loboc Cruise price is P450.00.

8. Dare to try the Sepatan Twin Hanging Bridge. I was a bit confident for this one and paid P15.00 for the entrance fee. I thought it will be easy for me, yet I was wrong. I got a fear of heights which made my knees trembling and leaves me sweaty. It was scary for me especially when other tourists are jumping off and make this bridge a bit hard for me. Thank God I finished the round trip walk on the bridge. Sorry for the photos, I just can’t stand straight and take good photos, haha.

9. Visit the butterfly sanctuary and animal park. P90.00 will be collected for the entrance fee but you may opt to see the butterfly sanctuary only for P45.00. For me, seeing and holding the butterflies are a bit more fun than touching the yellow snakes on the other side of the sanctuary. I did enjoy though the monkeys who are too showy and sweet with their partners. Too cute not to catch your attention.

10. Chilling at Alona Vida Coco Vida bar on my last night was the best. This place got the best band who plays great music. No wonder why there are plenty of people giving tips and dining in the place and enjoying their beers and cocktail drinks.

Other than the things I’ve mentioned above, you may opt to try the following activities especially if you’ll be staying more than 3 days in Bohol;

Pamilacan Dolphin and Whale Watching
Calape Fish Sanctuary Glide
Loboc Eco Park Adventure
Standup Paddling (Loboc)
ATV Eco Adventure
Firefly Kayaking (Maribojoc)
Cabgan Island Bat Watching & Mangrove (Tubigon)
