WORK-LIFE BALANCE

“I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can’t truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles”. – Zig Ziglar

People sometimes tend to forget how to unwind and chill for a while. They are busy on pursuing their dreams and pushing themselves too hard that they forget the needs to rest. There’s nothing wrong with being a go-getter, a team player, a hard worker, a breadwinner and an achiever person, as long as you give yourself (body, mind, and soul) a chance to breathe and relax whenever it tells you to do so.

My Bff and I have the same motto in life. We are all hardworking people, and though we’re working in different companies, having different schedules, we are all in the same financial industry. We love our jobs, we love our companies and we love the people we’re working with, but most of all, we love ourselves above them all. We believe in rewarding ourselves and giving the best day we deserve, that’s why we ensure to have our staycation every once in a while.

“Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.” – Dolly Parton

Most of the successful people achieve success because they dedicated all their time and effort in getting things done and working towards their goals. They do all the possible ways to ensure their success and sometimes they even sacrifice their personal time just to push their plans and achieve their goals.

I personally believe in hard work, determination, focus and optimism when it comes to success and achieving our personal goals, however, I also believe that it must be done gradually. There should be a work-life balance, and it means balancing everything that will not let your personal life be taken for granted. Prioritizing your dreams and ambitions without letting your health and personal relationship suffer.

We all experience juggling between life and career. It is indeed a hard task to do, but I believe it’s possible. I believe in work-life balance the way the most successful and famous people believe.

“Work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls – family, health, friends, and integrity – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered.” – Gary Keller

Some people don’t believe that work-life balance is possible, but I do. I believe it’s possible because I try to make it possible. I try to find time to meet my friends on weekends, or whenever I can. I try to find time to make new friends not only at work but outside the four corners of the office. I try to find time to make myself healthy and fit, and whenever, I feel tired and restless, I paused and let myself breathe. I try to find time to build relationships, not only with new people but more importantly build a stronger relationship with my family.

What’s the sense of success when you don’t have friends and family that you can share it with?

What’s the sense of working too hard and sacrificing personal life when you don’t have someone that you can cuddle at night?

What’s the sense of achieving your dreams when you’re alone and unhappy?

And, why do we let work get in our way of having a happy and meaningful life?

I hope people realize how much they missed out on their lives when they don’t come home on time. I wish they realize that if they dedicate a portion of their lives building relationships and making themselves happy and healthy, they will be living a more meaningful life. I wish they will realize that time is precious as well as their loved ones. It’s not all about work, it’s not all about ambition, it’s not all about career, it’s all about LIFE and BALANCE.

Work-life balance is possible and we have to embrace it. We have to know why we are doing the things we do and to whom we dedicate all our efforts and hard work, too. We need to remember how to live a meaningful life and not take for granted all the essential aspects of our lives. We have to focus and put our hearts into it because one day we might  wake up and realize that work will always be there tomorrow, but our friends and loved ones might not be.

Are you creating a work-life balance for yourself?
I’d like to hear your thoughts, opinions and strategies in making a balance in your life.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on the work-life balance. I’m fortunate to work for a company that values the work-life balance and encourages their employees to be healthy and happy. Not always easy to do as projects evolve and fall behind schedule and over budget (cutting edge science is really good at missing the milestones). Each day I look for reasons to be happy to help stay in balance.
